The Greatest Generation

Me: Wow, me and CC sure had to pay a lot to get into the park at the beach today. It is sure expensive.
Dad: Your mother and I do not have to pay at the national parks--we get in free! Because we have the old man pass.
Me: What? That's not fair.
Dad: It's fair. Hey! It's fair because we won World War II.
Me: ??
Dad: We won WWII!
Me: What? You were six years old.
Dad: I collected cans.
Me: Uh, you definitely turned nine in 1945.
Dad: We bought stamps! We collected cans! We collected tin foil.

It has nothing to do with WWII and everything to do with the fact that old people vote in every election.

It would be "great" if they made it so that all the old man privileges that they enjoy today are still around when we are the old men...

In other news, yey for beach park visiting!

I recently enjoyed the privileges of the Old Man Pass when I happened to be in the car with my Old Man at Rocky Mountain National Park. I think we just need to make sure we mooch off of the self-entitled self-proclaimed "Greatest Generation" for as long as they are getting free crap. Everytime my dad crowed about his free pass I just called him a socialist. It worked out pretty well.
