Take that, Jerk Scouts!

Right on! Those scouts were charging 25$ minimum per tree!

In my family, one of our favorite holiday stories to tell are the stories of how little we paid for various x mas trees, until dad started cutting down the shrubs, one a year, and that was of course free.

This reminds me of my mom's favorite method: go to the church parking lot the day after xmas and hope the trash truck hasn't picked up the unsold ones yet. Or, even better (no moral ambiguity), pick one up off the side of the road (make sure no tinsel) that some neighbors threw away after xmas but before New Year's! Oh, those dumb Americans, don't they realize New Year's trees last until March?

I enjoy how the photo evidence makes it look as if you made CC find the tree and carry it home. While you simply cut it a few times.

I admire your mom, I am going to work up to the show up the day after x mas at the charity tree sale (a related matter: the fence around the boy scout's sale is not that high, by the way). I got one off the side of the road after x mas last year (dumb Germans!) but it sort of smelled. But it was already decorated with tinsel, can't beat that for zero dollars.

And the photos don't lie--CC did all the work, as usual.
