Enormous book story

I thought maybe I should actually write about researching given the stated topic of this blog. So, I have got to say: digital cameras are going to really change the whole history business. See this book? Like 1,000 pages long. It would have taken me days to read through it in the archive. But it only took about an hour to photograph the chapters I need.

Most archives I work at don't let you use digital cameras. But I bet they all will someday, and then one will spend half the time one does now overseas doing research and the rest of the time in a coffee shop sweetly kissing girlfriend's hand and reading PDF files.
